At the English Womens Close Amateur Championship at West Sussex Golf Club last week, Sophie Keech, the youngest player in the field at 15, did very well, writes Ellie Langford.

She had an excellent first round scoring 76, four over parr to come in joint 15th against the top players in the country. Then she scored 81 in the second round to make the cut; a great result. She got through to the 2nd round where she came up against Charlie, Hull who plays off a handicap of +3. Sophie was one up after the front nine and on the 17th sunk her putt for a birdie but Charlie did one better and got an eagle winning 2 & 1. Sophie had played two under parr. The eventual winner was Lucy Williams who beat Charlie Hull on the 19th.
