Sidmouth Ladies 2nd XI 0, Dart 4
Even though Sidmouth only had 10 players, they were optimistic, taking into account that the last game they played before the Christmas break, they also only had 10 players and still managed to win, writes Kelsey Fitzgerald.
Sidmouth started well but Dart kept piling the pressure on the Sidmouth defence. Susie Bedford made some brilliant saves but, unfortunately, Dart scored a lucky goal. Dart gained confidence from this and went on to score a further two goals before half time.
Sidmouth pushed hard at the beginning of the second half and upped their game.
Due to injury, Sidmouth then went down to only nine players but they still kept strong, producing some goal scoring opportunities, but Dart counter-attacked and upped the score to 4-0.
Kristy Platt, this week's Player of the Match, played well in a central position not only supporting players but also moving the ball across the pitch. Two new recruits, Hope Burgess and Callie Tapp, have improved and grown in confidence throughout the season.
●Any women looking to play hockey are welcome to join Sidmouth at their training sessions at Colin Tooze sports centre on Wednesdays nights from 6.30- 7.30pm.
