Devon Senior CupOtterton 5, Upottery 2OTTERTON moved smoothly into the next round of the East Devon Senior Cup with a 5-2 win over Upottery on Sunday afternoon. With the Senior One side's Glebe Park pitch unfit for play, the match was switched to Otterton and the top flight side were a goal down within three minutes. However Richard Tapp's outfit battled back into the game, levelled up before the break and took a 2-1 lead just after the restart. The underdogs wouldn't lie down though and equalised before three further goals from Otterton sealed the win and set up a meeting with Topsham Town in the next round this coming weekend.Tom Bishop (2), Simon Tuley, a 25-yard-screamer from Jake Boyland and an own goal made up the Otters' scores. The win was the perfect tonic for what went on at the same venue just 24 hours earlier when Otterton were thumped 5-1 by visiting Thorverton. Tom Bishop got what was merely a consolation goal for the home side, leaving boss Tapp to say: "No complaints from me. On the day Thorverton were simply much, much better than my lot and so it was very pleasing to get the reaction the following day in the cup tie."That Sunday win over Upottery was all the more remarkable given the fact that all but two of the Otters' side were playing their third game inside 24 hours with the club's Sunday side also having a game in the morning!
