Honours were even this week in the Over-50s competition, Sidmouth ladies winning at Shaldon, gaining full points but losing against Crediton G.There were mixed results against Phear Park but an overall win: Barbara Jones, Mary Bristow, Sheila Lewis 25-11; Peggy Hannant, Dreda Taylor, Christa Turner 25-15; Mary Smith, Jean Green, Jill Bishop 17-20; Jill Lewis, Pat Harvie, Ann Newman 16-16. Wonderful to have played in the sunshine.Every week the faithful turn up for the umbrella. It must be the love of the game, it cannot be for the prize, ie 20p collected from each player and the total given to the winner! This week's top three ladies were Jill Lewis, Mary Bristow and Margaret King. There were 60 entrants for the Victory Bowl, a mixed triples.Last week, Sidmouth hosted the finals of the County Singles competition. Although there was no representative from Sidmouth, many felt our loyalties were with Julie Grant from Seaton, who is the current County President. Playing an exciting final against Liz Smerdon from Madeira, Julie had a fine win in her presidential year.
