THE top of the table clash in the East Devon Indoor Cricket League saw Sidmouth contrive victory over Exmouth by 11 runs.

Exmouth had plenty of ammunition to pass Sidmouth's total of 119-1 with Julian Page and Richard Arnold retired on 25 and desperate to get back to the crease. But, by opting not to stump and run out less experienced batsmen when they had the chance, Sidmouth were able to defend their total. In the end Exmouth finished 108-4.

Sidmouth's total was reached as Matt Cooke and Luke Bess passed the retirement score and Will Murray and Charlie Miles were unbeaten with 22 and 20, respectively.

Tipton St John fell short by 17 runs in a high scoring game against Feniton, who made 151, 50 of them from the bat of Francis Pyle. For Tipton, J Quick made 46 and Dave Dawson 33.

Jodie Clements with 36 and Rob Johns' 28 helped Ottery St Mary to 136, which gave them plenty to spare as they bowled Yarcombe and Stockland out for 84.

Honiton were dismissed for 48 by Newton Poppleford who had posted 117-3, Kenny Clay and Stott both making the compulsory retirement score.

Highest score of the day came from Clyst Hydon who made 154-4 and then bowled Newton St Cyres out for 58.
