The final medal of the playing season, the Kingswood and Devoran Hotel Medal, was played in glorious weather on Saturday, writes John Barnard.
Making the most of the Indian Summer in Division One was Duncan Taylor who shot a gross level round of 66 to win with a nett 65.
A double bogie on the third was the only blemish on the front nine and two birdies and seven pars saw him home on the back nine.
In second place with a nett 67 was Steve Crabb. A win was lost through two treble bogies in the last six holes which will have frustrated him. Dave Cowler was somehow third with a nett 74!
In the Second Division, Andrew Dean had the nett round of the day, a nett 63. A birdie on thirteen and an eagle on the seventeen helped to a great round and a handicap reduction of one shot.
Veteran John Game came in second with a nett 69 which included a birdie on the sixteenth hole. He won on countback from Phil Spencer; a bogie on the last hole cost him dear!
In Division Three, scoring proved more of a struggle with Vernon Ruffle just beating Sam Searle on countback, both having scored nett 74’s.
There were only three ’two’s all day so they each earned £9.
