In their first friendly fixture of the summer, Colaton Raleigh lost 2-0 to Honiton Town. It was, however, a decent performance by Raleigh who included nine teenagers in their squad, some of whom were making their debut in senior football.

During a shaky opening ten minutes, Colaton Raleigh conceded two goals, and the scoreline could have been worse but for several good saves by keeper Moray Bosence.

Riki Pitter's babes responded well after this early setback. Spurred on by battling performances in midfield by Tim Treloar and James Chalmers, they gave as good as they got, against a bigger stronger Honiton outfit, for the remaining eighty minutes.

James Hiscox fired against the post after 35 minutes and, during the second half, Colaton Raleigh outplayed their opponents for spells with Damian Armes and Jordan Cooper prominent. They created four good goalscoring chances which brought the best out of the Honiton keeper, and with a little more composure in front of goal Raleigh would have pulled at least one goal back.

There is plenty of fine tuning still to be done before the league campaign starts, but boss Pitter saw enough to impress him.

This saturday Colaton Raleigh are away to Woodbury in a pre-season friendly, kick off 3pm.
