The Marriott Trophy is an annual event at Sidmouth Town Football Club, with the U16 Junior Vikings taking on their coaches in memory of former Sidmouth player Sam Marriott.
It was the youngsters taking the plaudits this year with a 4-0 victory, starting with great work down the left and a perfect delivery found Will Crick, who converted a superb header.
The second goal was an equally good finish from Mickey Spiteri after a fabulous threaded pass, and the coaches’ mood hardly improved when they were denied a penalty for handball.
The Vikings extended their lead just before half-time with a calm finish from Freddie Eul-Barker before Ollie Bond added a fourth for the Vikings.
Massive thanks to Jay Thorne and the club for making the event possible, plus Mark Badcock and Chris Roberts for their nine years of commitment to a team now progressing to adult football.
