Three down - Fluxton storm back to draw

Lympstone 3, Fluxton 3 Having been without action for a couple of weeks it soon became clear the side that once revered the beautiful game looks to be abandoning its creed, writes Will Bidder.

Thirty eight minutes on the clock and the side were three goals down! Out of the depths of despair Rich Rapps, fresh from signing an insurance policy covering his wonderful left foot, which has left the Fluxton feudal funds in financial turmoil, beats three only to then be tangled in a melee close to the box. The ricochets of the ensuing shot fall to Mark Searle, brutally elegant in his new role, who carries the ball at pace and dispatches past a flailing keeper!

The Lympstone restart is savaged by the Flux offence, as if it had spotted a hen do at an East Devon sea front night club.

Searle’s tour de force continues with a fine finish dispatched from distance over the despairing keeper, flying high into the top right. Another restart, another Fluxton blitz, this time down the left, as a fierce cross pitch ball is delivered by Matt Amey into the box, finding Paget’s laces and into the bottom left of the net.

The skipper reeling in delight calls for a further five.

A devastating spell of three in seven minutes! The second half however is mostly uneventful, aside from a Lympstone one-on-one expertly diverted by Matt Sercombe and a rather nasty challenge on a Flux midfielder who is then led to question the intentions of its maker.

On Saturday Fluxton entertain a Met Office side who sit third in the Division Seven table, three places and three points better off than Fluxton with both teams having played eight games so far this term.
