It is certainly tight at the top of the Southern One table with Sidmouth and Ottery (SOHC) men’s 1st XI one of four teams separated by just a single point at the top of the table!

In their latest match, the men’s 1st team were held by Torbay, the sides drawing 1-1.

SOHC started strongly and went on to dominate the first half, but, despite creating a number of chances, they were unable to find a goal and trooped off highly frustrated at the interval!

It was a similar story after the break with SOHC the dominant side and, after a couple of short corners that had not been put away, they did eventually find the back of the Torbay net with Nick Mansfield applying a trade-mark tap-in after a wonderful solo run from Henry Mutter. That was followed by continued dominance, but again the good approach play was not matched by the finishing. In the closing minutes SOHC conceded possession and Torbay made a fleet-footed break that ended with the ball being slotted between the legs of George Harvey Powell. Henry Mutter was named the SOHC Man of the Match. Tomorrow (Saturday) SOHC men’s 1st XI host another of the current top four when they take on Dart at Ottery (12.30pm).
