Tipton’s Harry Tincknell secured victory during the final race weekend of the 2012 Cooper Tyres British F3 International Series at Donington Park to finish fifth in the championship.

Following the finale, Tincknell confirmed he will be entering the prestigious Macau Grand Prix on November 15-18.

The list of winners includes multiple Formula One World Champions Michael Schumacher and Ayrton Senna. Tincknell secured a fourth-row grid position in qualifying with a time of 1:23.660, and in the opening race battled Brazil’s Pipo Derani for the duration of the 21-lap encounter, eventually settling for eighth.

This result secured Tincknell pole position for Sunday’s reverse grid race two, and the talented British driver took full advantage. He made a quick start, and despite a three-lap Safety Car period was able to rebuild a gap to the rest of the field, taking his fourth victory of the season.

With this win, Tincknell’s charge reduced the gap between himself and fifth-placed Carlos Sainz Jr. to only eight points. Starting the final round from sixth, Tincknell claimed fourth place in dramatic style, passing Pietro Fantin with only three laps remaining, securing fifth in the championship in the process.

“It’s great to be able to end the season on a high,” said Tincknell. “Fifth in the championship and my fourth race win of the season have capped a good year. I knew I had to finish strongly to overtake Carlos in the title standings and am delighted I was able to claim those all-important points.”

Following the finale, Tincknell confirmed he will be entering the prestigious Macau Grand Prix on 15-18 November 2012, where he will be looking to add his name to a list of winners that includes multiple Formula One World Champions Michael Schumacher and Ayrton Senna.
