Harry Tincknell secured his third podium finish of the season when the Cooper Tires British F3 International Series visited Brands Hatch, Kent, for rounds 12-14 on June 23/24.
The 20-year-old got his weekend off to a strong start in Saturday’s qualifying session, securing third place on the grid for Sunday’s feature race thanks to a fastest lap time of 1:17.310.
The Devon racer continued his solid weekend in the opening race, maintaining fifth position for the duration of the 22-lap encounter, fending off a charge from Puerto Rico’s Felix Serralles.
The second race of the weekend was frustrating as Tincknell’s car suffered damage in the middle stages, forcing him to visit the pits for repairs. When he emerged he was a lap behind the rest of the field, but did manage to set the fastest lap of the race on his charge back up the order.
In race three, Carlin Motorsport’s Tincknell ended his trip to Kent in style by visiting the podium. He kept fourth-placed Alex Lynn at bay for 40 minutes, crossing the chequered flag just over half a second ahead to finish in third position.
Tincknell now sits seventh in the Cooper Tires British F3 International Series, and with 15 races still to come he will have plenty of opportunities to climb the standings, starting with a visit to Germany’s Norisring on June 29 – July 1.
“The second race was frustrating, but I’m delighted to have bounced back and gotten myself on the podium in the final race,” said Tincknell. “Overall it’s been a good, solid weekend and I’m full of confidence for my next race in Germany.”
