Tipton St John 10km and 2.5 mile fun run will take place on Saturday, July 12, from 10.30am, starting at Tipton Playing Field. Both are mostly off-road multi-terrain routes, including stiles and kissing gates, and some uneven paths. The scenic, undulating route heads towards the hamlets of Venn Ottery and Fluxton, back into Tipton, picking up the route of the fun runners, and following the old railway line between Tipton St John and Harpford, returning via the banks of the winding River OtterLast year the races were part of the Playing Field Association's 40th anniversary fair. They were so popular the organisers decided to hold them again as a straightforward running event. All proceeds will go towards work required on the children's play area and other maintenance around the field. Entry forms are available in Tipton post office and the Golden Lion, or by email jo.earlam@hotmail.co.uk, (10k on page 52).
