Tipton St John cricketer David O’Higgins may well be now into his 80s, but he continues to turn his arm over for the village side and recently he celebrated his 900th success for the club.

O’Higgins claimed his first wicket for Tipton back in the 1995 season when he played four times for the club and he finished that season with three wickets.

The 2009 campaign was his ‘best to date’ for he claimed 61 wickets in the 31 matches he played and in three other campaigns he has managed to bag himself at least 50 wickets.

The first time he got a half century was in the 2003 season when he finished with 55 wickets from 37 games. He repeated that 55 wicket haul in 2007 and, the year before, he went four better, finishing with 59 wickets. He has had five wicket hauls on 10 occasions and his best ever return for the club was one of 7-31 in the 2004 campaign. David has, to date, played 695 games for the club and he has scored 803 runs in the time, with his highest innings for the club being an unbeaten 34 scored in the 2001 season. He has also proved to have a decent pair of hands, holding 101 catches to date.
