Phil Tolley scored his umpteenth Tipton century, stroking his way to a superb unbeaten 112 as visiting Bridford were defeated by four wickets with two overs of the contest remaining.

It was the visitors who batted first on what looked a slow, and damp, wicket.

The Bridford openers found the going hard against the disciplined bowing of David Alford and David Birch. Four of the first five overs sent down by Alford were maidens and he also managed to get opener Dickenson to top edge one delivery to home wicketkeeper Dave Dawson. As the pitch dried out the batsmen began to prosper and 87 were scored in 22 overs before Phil Wright put an end to a fine knock from Gard that saw him score 36.Wright then promptly removed Tucker for a duck as the ball almost stopped in the wind!

The impressive Dunk was eventually dismissed by Mark Channon for an excellent 84 and then Dillon edged one into the Dawson gloves off the returning Birch who, three balls later, trapped Young leg before. In the final over Birch knocked over the stumps of Jess Sanders when he was two runs shy of a half century and the Bridford innings closed on 182-7.

Alford finished with miserly figures of one for nine off eight overs whilst Birch, who sent down seven overs, finished with three wickets for 17 runs.

After an exceptionally good tea supplied by the ladies from match sponsors Baters Removals, Tipton opened with Phil Tolley and Keith Collins. They were soon in trouble, losing Collins for five and then Dave Alford for one, before a partnership of 77 between Alex Tubbs and Tolley restored the home faith.

Tubbs departed for a fine 32and this brought Kevin McMeeking to the wicket to join Tolley.

The latter reached his 50 off 58 balls and the pair powered the home score to 159 when three wickets were lost with no further runs added! The first of those three wickets was McKeeking who had scored 12 of a 63-run partnership with Tolley.

When in the 90s Tolley was dropped twice, but he made them pay as eh eased his way to a splendid century, finishing unbeaten on 112 to see Tipton to victory with two overs and four wickets remaining.
