A brisk wind and dry running conditions made for a tough contest in this year’s East Devon Trophy held at East Devon Golf Club, writes Chris Roberts.
It was so difficult that two competitors (not Sidmouth) actually walked off the course part way through their round!
Whilst East Devon won the trophy on home ground, a gritty performance resulted in runners up position for Sidmouth, some 10 points ahead of Axe Cliff and Honiton.
Top performer on the day was Laurie Quinn with 31 points which was the highest score by a non East Devon player.
Final scores; East Devon 185, Sidmouth 165, Honiton 155, Axe Cliff 155.
