Ottery St Mary will have to endure a tough spell of fixtures in the Peninsula League East while new manager Andy Phillips waits for his side to settle to their task.
They came up against a professional looking Teignmouth outfit on Saturday and, for the first half, just couldn't get the ball off them. Phillips is expecting, on that showing, that Teignmouth will be challenging for the league title at the end of the season.
Phillips was thankful to go in at the break just 1-0 down and after a stern half time team talk, the side had much of the run of play early second half.
"We were looking strong, but conceded a goal against the run of play and then pushed for a goal, only to concede another," Phillips said.
"I was pleased with the character shown by the players and we had a very good training session on Wednesday night," he added.
Unfortunately, they have three key players missing this weekend, one of them, Dan Jewell being on Devon duty.
Phillips is hoping to have three more signings in place before the end of the month.
Ottery are away to Galmpton this Saturday.
