SIDMOUTH Town manager Paul Ashford is a fairly satisfied man this week as the teams open up their league campaigns at the weekend.
The first eleven came away with a very creditable draw against Bristol team Mendip United on Saturday afternoon and the 2nd XI won against Tipton St John 5-1 immediately afterwards.
Paul Ashford told the Herald: "The Mendip team was a very good starting block for us. Teza Perryman scored Sidmouth's goal and I was very impressed with some of the new signings - particularly Chippy Churchill, who joined us from Sidbury and a new centre forward Andy Isaacs, from Upottery. All in all, it was a good afternoon and we look forward to the opening (Devon and Exeter Premier League) match at home to Heavitree on Saturday (ko 3pm).
Sidmouth 2nd XI kick off their Division 3 season on September at home to Phoenix Club (3pm).
