Sidmouth Town Reserves are in Devon Senior Cup action tomorrow (Saturday) when they visit fellow Macron Devon and Exeter League Division One side Kentisbeare in the last eight of a competition they won at the end of last season.
The Vikings’ second team has not seen much action over the past few months. Indeed, since December 8 and their 8-1 win over Watcombe Wanderers – a victory that sent them into tomorrow’s quarter-final – they have played just two games.
They won them both, enjoying a 2-1 success at home to Wellington on January 5 and a 2-1 win at Alphington in their most recent outing which came on January 26.
The cup tie at Kentisbeare will be contested by a couple of teams who have had fairly similar campaigns so far. Town’s second string are in good form, winning each of their last five games and they have not lost since a 5-1 defeat at Chagford on October 27!
In 14 league and cup matches so far this campaign, Town have scored 47 goals and conceded 25.

Kentisbeare have played 17 matches in league and cup, scoring 50 goals and conceding 22. The Kents have scored in all but one of their 17 games to date – the exception being a 3-0 defeat they suffered at Lapford in early October.
In terms of their respective routes to the quarter-finals, Sidmouth have played three rounds, winning 6-1 against Stoke Gabriel Reserves, 5-1 away at Tedburn and 8-1 in South Devon at Watcombe Wanderers.

Town have scored 19 goals in the cup run this season with Callum Cross leading the honours having netted six times - scoring in each round so far.
Mark Hadley, who scored a hat-trick in the win over Watcombe Wanderers and Scott Hughes, who has scored in two of the three games, come next with three while Jake Byfield has two to his name and there have been single goals scored by Jack Hatswell, Reuben Raffell, Ferenc Bodor and Adrian Parr.
Kentisbeare have played four rounds. Their run began with a 3-0 home win over Barton before a 2-0 home success against Fremington. That was followed by a 2-1 victory at Ottery St Mary before a third successive home clean sheet win, 3-0 over Lympstone to set up the tie with the Vikings.
Sidmouth Town Reserves and Kentisbeare are yet to meet in Division One this season.
As things stand they are due to meet twice in the space of 14 days in April with the pair meeting at Manstone Lane on April 13 and back at Rectory Park two weeks later.
