It was a busy weekend for N1 Tri Club athletes who saw action at two big events.

Matt Player travelled to Liverpool for the British Triathlon Championships Standard Distance, with places in the GB team up for grabs!

Raced over closed roads with a backdrop of the famous City Skyline the event was a hugely competitive affair with 1000 athletes taking part.

A ‘Standard Distance race’ is a 1500metres swim followed by a 40 km cycle before a 10km run to finish things off.

Player was hopeful of doing well as he had recently won his age group at the Bristol triathlon.

In Liverpool he smashed his previous personal best for the distance recording a time of two hours and eight minutes.

Five N1 members were closer to home at Orchardleigh in Somerset for the inaugural Standard Distance race based around the stately home.

For many of the N1 athletes it was their first experience of the distance.

Foe one of them, Hadleigh Davies, it was in fact his first ever triathlon race!

He did extremely well and was first club member home in three hours and five minutes, finishing 33rd overall.

Anne Ephraums sealed her first podium finish in a triathlon race, coming in third in her age group, chased home all the way by Sally Hutter who claimed fourth place.

Both of these women have hugely improved their fitness over the last six months and they were naturally delighted by their performances.

Rae Owen continues to improve and despite and ‘incident’ with a ‘white van grumpy man’, which thankfully was not serious, managed to finish third in her age category.

Dave Welsh continues to collect tee shirts and medals in a whole variety of races in this special year for him. He came home seventh in his age group.
