Ottery St Mary TAGB Tae Kwon-Do Club started the year as they mean to go on, with a healthy handful of medals won at the first competition of 2008. The South West Championships, held in Salisbury saw them return with three gold medals."Having this opportunity to meet up and compete with other clubs and areas is fun, but also it really hones your performance and improves standards," said instructor Guy Southard. "My students enjoy pushing themselves to do well and it shows, because they win medals, their standards are high, and their self confidence improves enormously. "Competitions aren't a compulsory part of Tae Kwon-Do but they are a worthwhile experience and they reinforce everything I teach in class from the physical art to the life skills aspects such as respect, courtesy and self control," he added. Guy Southard is a fourth Dan black belt and instructor of the Ottery club. For details on how to join this dynamic art contact Guy on 07771 863890.
