Sidbury U12s had to come from behind to win this great cup tie against West Exe Athletic, a game in which both sides contributed fully, and should be applauded for their efforts. West Exe started better, and played with confidence, whilst the Sidbury defence of Aaron Pearse, Toby Bouganeau, Ben Logan, and Cody Northcott gradually stamped their authority on the game. There were lapses of concentration early on, which contributed to West Exe's well-taken opening goal. George Hathaway and Scott Redman busied themselves in midfield aiding Sidbury's recovery. Cody Northcott forced a great save and Sidbury went close on a couple of other occasions as they started to take control. Midfielders Kieran Murphy and Billy Reed had shots blocked as Sidbury piled on the pressure. Sidbury keeper Daryl Young kept the score at 1-0 at half time. The second half saw Sidbury go all out for that goal. They really turned the screw, although at times it seemed that luck was favouring West Exe, after some great blocks and goal-line clearances kept Utd at bay. Finally a shot was deflected straight into the path of unmarked Harry Wright who scored and added another after a great run from Aaron Pearse. This was a great cup tie, and a tribute to both teams.
