The Indoor season is into its last two weeks and several competitions are now finished, write Sue and Peter Mison.

The Mixed Umbrella is the most popular internal competition held by the club and has had wonderful support throughout the season with 112 members taking part. Over 20 weeks there was an average attendance of just over 70 members. The club is very grateful to Maurice and Marian Watson for running this successful competition for the last few years.

The winner this season was Adelina Constable, with Alan Bacon being the runner up.

Also finished is the ladies’ Rosemullion competition, another very popular competition run this season by Zena Johnson and Margot Beauchamp. The winner this year was Margot Beauchamp with joint runners up Freda Humphreys and Adelina Constable.

The ladies’ triples competition, run by vice- captain Marian Watson, has also been completed, finishing with two teams going into the last game one point apart. Both teams won their last match so the winners, by one point, were the team led by Jean Brimson with Jill Bishop, Sylvia Cook Rita Daw, Sheila Graham, Pat Harvie, Zena Johnson and Frances Wilson.

?On Tuesday, Sidmouth ladies’ Indoor Section held their Annual Section Meeting taken by chairman Peter Mison at which Marian Watson was installed as captain for the Indoor Season 2012/2013, with Sue Mison as vice captain and Zena Johnson as junior vice captain.

Those who attended heard reports from various committee members as to the ladies’ section performances over the 2011/2012 indoor season and plans for the next indoor season.

?Three mixed teams went to Mid Devon for a friendly game. Sidmouth won overall by two rinks to one and by 63-52. Well done to Sidmouth’s best rink Ray Tallent, Adelina Constable, Jane Painter and Cliff Hewett who won by 31-15.

Sidmouth men played a postponed match in the County Trophy Interclub League against Torbay B on the usual two rinks at home, two rinks away basis. Torbay won on all four rinks by 102-70, thus gaining promotion to the First Division. Sidmouth finished mid table in Division 2 after a mixed but enjoyable season.

On Easter Monday two mixed triples sessions were held in the form of a drive, each of the six teams at each session playing different opponents on different rinks.

It was a most enjoyable day with the best rink for the morning being Elaine Reed, Mary Bristow and Peter Mison who won by +17 and the best rink for the afternoon Maurice Watson, Jim Wrench and Eileen Stribling who won by +16. Well done to both winning rinks.
