Sidmouth seniors invited their wives and partners to an end of season dinner held at the Golf Club on Monday evening, writes Chris Grubb.

This is the final dinner of the year for the seniors section when it is out with the old and in with the new captain.

The event has proved to be very popular with 70 attending followed by a further 60 the following week.

Retiring seniors captain Nigel Sharp spoke about his year, and in particular highlighted the legacy of the new stone bridge over the ditch on the 13th fairway to mark the 125th anniversary of the formation of the Golf Club.

The seniors have also raised during the year a further £1500 for the club captain’s charity.

It has been a very successful year for the seniors section of the Golf Club and Nigel was very grateful to all the members of the seniors section for the help and support given to him during the year.

The Victor Ludoram cup was also presented to Douglas Goodall as the overall winner of the highest aggregate stableford points for the seniors’ competition during the season, with a minimum of 10 rounds, his average of 34 points made him an impressively consistent golfer and worthy winner.
