West Exe 2, Sidmouth Warriors 7 With persistent rain and a very sticky pitch Sidmouth Warriors Under-13s battled hard and with some excellent finishing beat West Exe comfortably to move up to third place in the League.

Sidmouth bossed proceedings from the first whistle.

Silk was outstanding on the right wing and terrorised their defence putting over cross after cross. The only surprise was that it took the Warriors 20 minutes to score when Cooke outmuscled the West Exe defence before netting.

Man of the Match Gosse then took complete control of the game, dictating play and being a constant threat. He outpaced the home defenders before coolly finishing and then, when Cooke again broke through, his initial shot was saved only to fall to De Gruchy who passed the ball into the net for his first ever Sidmouth goal!

Such was the Warriors first half dominance that glovesman Perez was a virtual spectator. The only time West Exe got through they found Jones at his defensive best and the striker was not give n the chance to shoot. Gosse added his second before the break to make it 4-0 at half time.

The second half saw the pitch deteriorate and this meant the passing game favoured by the Warriors was harder to play.

The hosts powered back and Perez made some outstanding saves whilst Mead and Woodruff both made goal line clearances, before the home side got a goal back.

The four goal margin was swiftly restored with Gosse completing his hat-trick.

Silk, Chapman-Coombe and Cooke all went close before West Exe pulled another back. There was no stopping Gosse though and he struck twice more to take his tally in the game to five.
