West Hill Wasps Under-10s made a flying start to their Exeter and District Youth League campaign.
What is clearly paying off is the fact that during the pre-season, and on an ongoing basis, the squad is working very hard in its regular training sessions with the improvement most noticeable and culminating in the squad being able to play a series of matches against the Exeter City Academy side last week.
To a player, Wasps showed great determination against a skilful City outfit across four well-contested games. It was a fantastic reflection on the entire squad to come out of four games with two wins and bodes well for the remainder of the season.
Wasps’ manager Allen Morgan says: “The team has developed into an excellent passing team, always looking to play the ball out from defence with confidence.
“A creative midfield coupled with some strong tacklers and fleet-footed wingers has seen the team get some excellent results, scoring some superb team goals along the way.
“What is so apparent about this squad of young footballers is that they play – always – with a smile on their faces and with a terrific team spirit.
“It’s a strong squad and one that is making very pleasing progress.”
