Sidmouth Quins started brightly for their Merit Table fixture against Brixham, the forwards putting the visitors on the back foot with some committed play. They found themselves on the wrong side of referee Sara Cox and gave away a series of penalties. Fly half Tom Whelan duly accepted the opportunity to put over four penalties in the first quarter. Brixham were a competent well drilled side and scored a try wide out just prior to half time for a 12-5 scoreline. After the break, Sidmouth came under more pressure as the visitors started to attack through the middle but solid defence from James Robinson, Glenn Channing and Joe Laban thwarted many of their best efforts. The decisive score came from a scrum 10 metres out from the Sidmouth line which wheeled, allowing the Brixham back row room to drive for the line, Sidmouth were judged to have deliberately killed the ball and a penalty try awarded levelling the scores, which was extended minutes later with another converted try.The Quins did spend periods camped in the Brixham 22 towards the end of the game but they never quite had the fire power to breakdown the visitors solid defence.
