In the Friday Stableford at Sidmouth Golf Club, the top two places went to younger members of the club when Greg Wilmington grabbed first place with 41 points closely followed by Chris Lewis with 40 points, writes John Rockey.

The highlight of Willmington’s round was his back nine during which he amassed 24 points and with it a reduction in his handicap to 17. Lewis had a very solid round throughout and is now back to playing his best golf which is reflected in his seven handicap, which has been reduced by five shots since his return to the club at the start of the season.

Keeping up his recent good form, Mark Thomas was in the prizes again with 37 points and got a reduction in his handicap to five just in time for his defence of the Scott Cup to be played at Ilfracombe at the weekend.

Just missing out of a top three place was John Jones who also had 37 points but lost out on a countback. The seven points gained from his fourth place put him at the top of the Friday League table with 74 points. Second in the table is Chris Roberts on 70 points with George Barber a further two points back in third.
