Winners deserve champion status
Sidmouth Tennis Club Finals Day brought to a conclusion five of the Junior and Adult Singles competitions played over the summer season, writes Lesley Cranston.
The day produced some closely contested finals with four of the matches going the distance requiring championship tie-breaks as the decider. The competitors were well supported by club members plus families and the tournament organisers, Nicki Keele for the adults and Debbie Snelgrove for the juniors did a brilliant job getting the events through to this stage and providing excellent refreshments and much-needed fuel for competitors and supporters alike.
The results were as follows:
Men’s Singles: Martin Truman beat Jake Harrison 5-7, 6-3, 10-6; Ladies’ Singles: Vivienne Bess beat Lesley Cranston 3-6, 6-3, 10-5; Junior Girls’ U18 Singles: Mollie Wiltshire beat Katie Wiltshire 6-4, 6-7, 10-8; Junior Girls’ U14 Singles: Mollie Wiltshire beat Mollie Spalding 6-2, 6-0.
