Sidmouth played against Honiton in the preliminary round of the National Top Club. There were four disciplines involved, fours, triples, pairs and four wood singles.
To go through to the next round Sidmouth had to win three of the four disciplines. This they did with ease. Jill Bishop won the singles match, 21-11. The pairs match was won by Jean Brimson and Eileen Hewett, 33-8. In a close-fought match the fours, Marion Watson, Jill Lewis, Jane Painter and Skip Phil Nobbs won 20-17.
Unfortunately the triples, Pat Ashton-Pritchard, Margaret King and Valerie Newham lost their match, 14-20. Having won three disciplines Sidmouth now go though to the next round. Well done ladies and best of luck in the next round.
Lunch, which was supplied by the indoor committee, was served to Honiton ladies at the end of the matches. Thank you to all, especially Mary Turner and Elaine Reed who manned the kitchen.
The umbrella was again rained off, but hopefully the weather will be kind this week.
