Sidmouth Raiders Under-11s were on their travels again on Saturday, when they took on a well organised Exeter Panthers side at Bettysmead.

Early exchanges between the two teams were even until 10 minutes before half time when Raiders were awarded a penalty for Panthers’ handling in the box. Bobby Henderson stepped up to take the spot kick, which he neatly slotted home. The goal seemed to have a magical effect on Raiders, as they went on the attack and, within the space of five minutes, striker Elliott Bowyer had added two more.

The second half was an evenly matched affair, until Panthers pounced onto a loose ball which found its way into the back of the Raiders’ net. As the half drew to a close Panthers started to take control of the game but were denied any further chances of a goal, thanks to the resilience of the Sidmouth back three, consisting of Adam Dunford, Will Denton and Bobby Henderson.

This week’s Man of the Match award went to Kian Wright for his skilful and determined contribution towards a well deserved 3-1 win.
