Sidmouth Town Viking Raiders U11s 2, Hemyock 2
Sidmouth’s finest were to start the new year on top form with great defending by Ben Scrivens, Glen Sinker and Thomas West, writes Alex Latham.
First class passing by the Raiders repeatedly tested Hemyock’s fine defence. Despite their best efforts, Hemyock snatched two goals before Archie Rowe was rewarded with Sidmouth’s first, ending the first half with Hemyock 2-1 up.
The second half was dominated by the Raiders from the start with fresh legs, Matt Laurenti, Scott Gibson and Will Lorkin who scored the equaliser within the opening 10 seconds ending in a well-deserved draw.
Man of the match - Archie Rowe.

Sidmouth were undone by an deflected own goal and a free kick which rifled through the defence and straight into the goal.
Reuben Bennett had a good claim to have scored with his effort, reintroducing the debate over goal line technology, however this is probably a long way off at under 9s’ level!
Frank Long aimed a superb speculative long-range shot which went narrowly over the bar. By this point the Raiders were more than a match for the Panthers but could not find the net. So the Raiders are left to concentrate on the league but have a good solid foundation with which to build for a successful 2013.
