Sidmouth Town Reserves start their season somewhat belatedly this weekend when they play Heavitree away. Manager Alan Rowe will be fielding a young team as several of the more experienced players will be absent at Mike Warburton's wedding. He said: "I will have Paris Pinney and Jack Lewis up front. Both have the potential to be really good players so we shall just see how we get on." The Reserves' first planned match was rained off a fortnight ago and last week saw the county cup first round matches. l Sidmouth's 1st XI were in cup action against Plymouth Parkway and found them to be a tough side, with a good passing game. Manager Paul Ashford said: "We were a bit slow off the blocks and didn't really get into our game until the second half when we were 1-0 down." Andy Thompson spurred their revival with a cracker of a free kick which screamed into the net. "I had a few 'builder's words' with them at half time but they started to believe in their own passing ability after the break and looked good. "We ran out of steam a bit right at the end when Parkway scored two goals."The match was sponsored by POW Builders.Ashford will be making changes to the side this week and continues to be frustrated by lack of regular availability of players. He wants to build a home grown young team. "If we could just get a regular side out we can be a good team.' Sidmouth 1st XI play Thorverton at home tomorrow and need to bank the league points as a basis for the rest of the season to come.
