Archant

Sidmouth travelled to Bristol to play a very young, 'zippy' student side and were certainly a match for them in the first half.

Sidmouth held onto the ball for most of it under the new formation of Chris Lewis and Charlie Plowden in central midfield.

The successful combination opened up a lot of attacking moves along the flanks combining well with both Dan Devine and Byron Fitzgerald.

This was backed up with some good positive aerial domination from Andrew Mapson and Ben Dormand.

It was left to the centre forwards, especially the tenacious George Powell, to get off a few well earned shots and win some good short corners.

However, sadly the second half saw how a well-drilled student side can compete alone on stamina and outran another high-spirited Sidmouth performance.

Overall, it is encouraging to see the squad enjoying a higher standard of hockey and being good sportsmen.

On that note, all the players would like to sincerely thank coach, Lawrence Cole, for all his hard work and support so far this season.

The Adrenalin Games Man of the Match this week was Charlie Plowden and thanks go to Adrenalin Games for their generous sponsorship and kind support.

On Saturday, the men host Cheltenham and hope for the same support they have enjoyed so far this season.
