Readers and Writers Season in Sidmouth starts with talk by novelist Marina Lewycka
FOUR of Britain’s top authors will entertain audiences at Kennaway House by talking about their latest books and writing careers. Starting of this year’s Readers and Writers Season is Marina Lewycka, whose talk in the Cellar Bar will take place on Thursday, August 11.
Lewycka is a British novelist of Ukrainian origin and has written a number of popular books.
Her first published book, A Short History of Tractors in Ukrainian, sold more than a million copies in the UK alone.
At Sidmouth she will talk about her book We Are All Made of Glue and answering questions from the audience, before signing copies of the book which will be sold on the night.
Kate Norbury, who has organised the season along with Liz Halls, manager of Kennaway House, said: “How lucky we have been to get such well known and established authors to come to Sidmouth.
“We’d like them to go away telling other authors what a great place it is to come to for future years.”
Doors open at 7pm and talks will start at 7.30pm.
Other authors taking part in Meet the Authors are Rachel Billington (Friday September 23), Micheal Holroyd (Friday October 7) and Julian Fellowes, who wrote TV’s popular Downton Abbey (date to be confirmed).
Tickets are 8, to include a glass of wine, available from Kennaway House (01395) 515551.
Local reading groups support the Readers and Writers season as well as the library service.
