The bride and groom were, with the rest of the 'family', publicising Sidmouth Amateur Dramatic Society's latest production Celebration, which runs at the Manor Pavilion Theatre from Tuesday, June 16 to Saturday, June 20.

Rehearsals are well underway for this warm-hearted North Country comedy by Keith Waterhouse and Willis Hall, the talented duo who wrote Billy Liar, among many other successful plays.

Ray Pickworth directs the production and, such is the appeal of the play, he has managed to persuade acting members from as far afield as Dunkeswell, Ottery St Mary, Newton Poppleford, Seaton and Tipton St John to swell the cast of 16 for this 1960's story of two families celebrating two important events in their lives.

Act One centres around two families preparing for a wedding and this leads to some amusing and sometimes confrontational situations.

In Act Two further complications arise when the families meet at the funeral of Uncle Arthur and are faced with an uninvited and unwelcome guest.

Ian Hunt plays the groom, while his bride is Tanya Christopher. The wedding cake, supplied by Celebration Cakes of Venn Ottery, can be seen displayed in Vinnecombe's window in Sidmouth High Street.

Performances start at 8pm with a Saturday matinee at 2.30pm.

You can buy two tickets for Tuesday's show and get a third free. They are 8 and available from the theatre box office between 10am and 2pm or by calling (01395) 514413.
