Devon's only fully professional orchestra, Devon Baroque, will soon be appearing in the east of the county when they make their first visit to Sidmouth's Manor Pavilion Theatre.
The orchestra specialises in music of the 17th and 18th centuries, played in authentic style on period instruments. Led by Margaret Faultless, an expert in this type of music, and a violinist of international standing, the orchestra will be presenting a programme entitled Celebration of the Dance.
This will be illustrated with the music of JS Bach, the French composer Jean-Féry Rebel, the 'Swedish Handel' Johan Roman, Telemann and Henry Purcell. Tickets for this fascinating concert, at 7.30pm, on Saturday, January 26, are available from the Manor Pavilion box office, telephone (01395) 514413, or, subject to availability, at the door. Also at the door will be tickets for a pre-concert talk which starts at 6.15 pm.
