Showcasing the diverse and engaging dance traditions of the British Isles, Sidmouth offers a treasure chest of regional style from Cotswold and Border to North West, Clog Stepping and Rapper.
FolkWeek showcases many of these in dance displays, processions, lunchtime Meet The Teams, the legendary Jig Competition and special events held throughout the week at a number of venues, including Blackmore Gardens Marquee and Connaught Gardens. Workshops already include Border, Cotswold and North West Morris together with Rapper, Flatfooting and Irish Dance.
Morris Wednesday in Blackmore Gardens Marquee features the infamous Morris Party hosted by Great Western Morris, performances by Oyster Morris, Luascadh and dancing to Lasair.
Teams invited to perform through the week include: Black Swan Rapper, Boggarts Breakfast, Horwich Prize Medal Morris Men, Chinewrde Morris Dancers, Clausentum Morris, Cutting Edge Sword, Eynsham Morris, Great Western Morris, JD & Folk, Luascadh, Oyster Morris, Silver Flame Rapper, Shropshire Bedlams, Martha Roden’s Tuppenny Dish, Tylers Men and more.
