Exeter's Red Coat Guides run free, guided, walking tours of Exeter, every day of the year (except December 25 and 26). The Red Coats are all volunteers, and lead an extensive programme of several tours a day. Their remarkable knowledge of Exeter means you will hear some fascinating stories and will always learn something new about the city!

The programme of 18 unique tours includes the popular Ghosts and Legends, where you will hear chilling tales about Exeter - one of the most haunted cities in Britain! You can also visit parts of the city on the tours which wouldn't otherwise be accessible, such as the Catacomb and 21 The Mint tour, where you can go inside the old city burial chambers, and visit the medieval refectory of St Nicholas Priory.

Linda Gibbons, co-ordinator of the Red Coat Guided Tours, says "Exeter is one of the only cities in the country to run free guided walking tours, and it is because of the Red Coats' dedication and enthusiasm to share their knowledge that this is possible - they are often seen as ambassadors of the city". Tours run in all weathers, and for a small charge groups can book their own exclusive tours, tailored to their needs.
