A storytelling session entitled ‘Fearsome Fairy Tales for Fearless Adults’ takes place at Kennaway House, Sidmouth, next Friday, October 21, from 7.30pm to 10pm.
It will bring seven storytellers from across Devon to town to share their seasonal tales. These are the dark tales of the fairy world, where everything is not as it seems. Be warned, say organisers, these tales are not suitable for adults of a nervous disposition. The storytellers include professionals Claire Viner, Lisa Schneidau, Ronnie Eaton, with Janet Dowling and local Sidmouth storytellers Linda Williams, Anna Sutherland and Hilary Gibson.
Janet Dowling, organiser of the storytelling evenings, said: “At this time of year, stories that are scary are popular. We are fortunate that Devon has quite a lot of good storytellers and I’m pleased that three of the storytellers are local to Sidmouth, who have been honing their skills in storytelling workshops. It’s my intention to have an open mic part of future SidMouth StoryNights to show local spoken word talent - this is the first step.”
Tickets (£8 in advance) from Paragon Books or on the door (£10).
