For the second year running, the lawns and rooms at Sidmouth’s prestigious Kennaway House will be filled with craft and food stalls during FolkWeek.

Two marquees will be on its front lawn, housing everything from wood-turning, leather and slate goods to fine silks and tasty nuts, while indoors there will be jewellery stalls, cufflinks, delicious lotions and creams and felt items for sale.

Doors open daily during the festival, from 10am running to 6pm and entry is free.

Coinciding with its Craft and Food Fair will be an exhibition of artwork by Luppitt artist, Vanessa Nancarrow, which opens until 5pm.

There will be two illustrated talks during the week, on Tuesday (August 4) and Thursday (August 6) mornings, by Sidmouth historian and journalist, Sarah Obermuller-Bennett.

On Tuesday she will talk about Devon Ghosts & Legends, while on Thursday she will speak on Agatha Christie’s Devon.

Both talks start at 10.30am, ending by 12.30pm, and refreshments will be available.

Tickets are £6 per talk, available by calling (01395) 515551.

Di Bowerman, chairman of the trustees said: “After the FolkWeek organisers decided to relocate its HQ last year we wanted to join in the festival spirit.

“There will be lots for people to enjoy outside, including wood-turning demonstrations, tasty food and drink such as egg dishes, pizza, lemonade, fudge, hot food and cream teas and some lovely craft stalls indoors and out.

“Our Cellar Bar will be open for teas and coffees and there will be lots of local artwork on sale too.”
