Flanders and Swann were a comedy music duo ahead of their time. Striking a chord with audiences of the day, the eccentric bespectacled Swann, at the piano, delivered musical perfection amidst a flurry of whirling elbows, while Flanders

knowingly delivered satirical wisdom from the confines of his trademark wheelchair. Impossible to forget, their wry comic observations of modern

life, history and the animal kingdom still continue to inspire generations of performers to this day.

Glorious Flanders & Swann is an affectionate revue that tells the story of Michael Flanders and Donald Swann and their iconic 1960s 'Hat' shows: At The Drop Of A Hat and At The Drop Of

Another Hat. With the aid of a grand piano, a five-piece cast bring to life many of their most memorable songs including: Transport Of Delight (London Omnibus), Madeira m'Dear, The Gas Man Cometh, The Reluctant Cannibal, Misalliance, The Gnu and, of course, The Hippopotamus (Mud, Mud, Glorious Mud).

For lovers of Flanders and Swann and the less well-initiated alike, their distinctive brand of

eccentricity makes for a perfect summer's evening entertainment. At times absurd, ironic and gently humorous, Glorious Flanders & Swann will take you

back to the halcyon days of two of Britain's most cherished musical comedy performers. Featuring Sidmouth favourites Dan Barratt, Avril Best, Martin Kingston, Adam Owen-Jones and Tina Pavely, Sidmouth Musical Comedy Society will be on stage at the Manor Pavilion Theatre, Sidmouth from Wednesday, June 10, to Saturday, June 13.

Evening performances start at 8pm and there will be Saturday matinee at 2.30pm. For ticket details, call the Manor Pavilion box office on (01395) 514413.
