Festival-goers will be flocking to Honiton’s very first sausage and cider festival this weekend.

The Honiton Sausage and Cider Festival, which is being organised by the Honiton Foundation, will take place on Saturday (May 3) at the Old Honiton Agricultural Showgrounds in Langford Road.

The event is in aid of Honiton-based charity Devon Freewheelers, who provide an emergency out-of-hours courier service, delivering life-saving medical supplies to hospitals across the region including Sidmouth and Ottery St Mary.

Sweet Black Angels, Fools and Horses, Diamondogz, 4 King Dwarphz, singer songwriter Ollie Bowern will be entertaining audiences from 2.30pm onwards.

Headliners The Wurzels will be on stage from 9pm. There will be music from the Ukelele Band, Jordan Joyce and Lydia Capon, Yums Yums, David Harbottle and Freya from 10am onwards.

The mayor of Honiton, Councillor David Foster, who is one of the festival organisers said: “We are so pleased about the overwhelming support the community has given this event for its first year. We hope it is a sign of the future and for years to come.

“Sunshine has been booked and we look forward to a wonderful festival and a great day. It will be a celebration of what we do well in East Devon.”

Festival-goers are being urged to leave their cars at home and take advantage of a shuttle minibus service, which will be running throughout the day and will be picking up at the bus stop outside Lace Walk in Honiton from 8am until midnight.

Tickets will not be available to purchase on the gate on the day of the festival. For more information visit http://honitonfestival.org/

Gates open at 8am and music will run until 11pm. Campers will be able to access the camping sites from 12pm on Friday.
