Writer Jilly Cooper approves one night comedy performance at Sidmouth’s Manor Pavilion Theatre

IT is not surprising Sidmouth has an affinity with actor James Pellow. He loves Sidmouth and Sidmouth loves James.

He’s a very funny, clever actor and has just come to the end of an exhausting and enjoyable summer season at the Manor Pavilion Theatre.

But he won’t be gone for long. He returns at the end of October, for one night only acting with Kairen Hooker in a three-part comedy, The Jilly Cooper Effect, at Kennaway House.

Earlier this year Kennaway House hosted Kairen Hooker in a sketch with Rowland Molony, involving mobile phones going off in the middle of the performance.

This time the comedy revolves around a married couple, one of whom is attempting to arrange both their diaries to include time for some ... er, togetherness.

The play is interspersed throughout the evening between music from Chris Gradwell and Friends, and poems from John Torrance and Rowland Molony.

Both Jilly Cooper and her agent have seen the script of The Jilly Cooper Effect and approved it. Whether or not she accepts the invitation to be in the audience to see it is anyone’s guess.

Tickets are 10. Doors open at 6.45pm for the 7.30pm show. Because James is a busy actor and there is just one performance, both he and Kairen will perform the play with scripts in hand, making it a performed play reading, rather than a completely acted play.
