Creative excitement filled the Sidmouth Amateur Dramatic Society rehearsal room last week when David Lane, a dramaturg working for Exeter University and playwright, ran a drama workshop for junior members.
The budding actors were encouraged to express their own ideas in a series of lively improvisations and this resulted in a mammoth list which filled one of the walls! Overnight, David included many of the ideas in a specially written play, scenes from which were rehearsed on the second day of the workshop. With help from Tanya Rees and Pia Thum, who run a regular Wednesday night group, and Christine Hardy, the youngsters performed to an audience of family and friends.
Everyone involved had great fun and were delighted with the play, which will be performedas part of the Sunshine in November fundraising concert at the Manor Pavilion Theatre.
Anyone interested in joining the group, ages 8-12 years, contact Tanya Rees (01395) 516950.
