THERE were pets galore, from dogs, cats and small furry animals to the more unusual, chicken and slug, at St Nicholas Junior School's first pet show.

Held as part of its centenary year celebrations, the pet show was combined with a table sale to raise funds for the school building fund.

Prizes were donated by Oscar Pet Foods, Sidmouth Tackle & Pet Supplies, Sidmouth Pet & Aquatics, and Pets At Home.

All pets, and their owners, were on their best behaviour during the Saturday afternoon event, held on the same day as Sidmouth Carnival.

The school's PTA ran a teas and cake stall and some 371.41 was made on the day for the building fund appeal.

Pictured are some of the winners with their pets, including Maddie Robson with her dog Bella, who had the most waggly tail, Alex Hammond and his dog Merlin, judged to be in the best condition,

Abbie Preston won a joint prize for the most unusual pet with her stick insects, shared with Louis Stamp and his pet slug.

Abbie's cat Jinks won a prize for having the longest whiskers, while Charlie Wheeler's guinea pig Blossom won the small pets best condition prize.

Charlotte Hooking's hamster Ginger picked up a prize for having the busiest pet.
