Kennaway Fine Art Guild receives support for second exhibition

MEMBERS of Kennaway House Fine Art Guild are delighted with the support received for their second annual art exhibition.

Held, naturally, at Kennaway House, Sidmouth, last week, ending on Sunday, the three Sidmouth and one Exmouth artist, Neil Cox, Robert Crisp, Stephen Brown and Ray Balkwill, this year invited the president of the Royal Institute of Oil Painters, Peter Wileman, to guest display four of his paintings.

Wildlife and coastal artist Neil Cox said: “We are building on last year. We have had a very encouraging number of people through the exhibition and, despite the recession, some positive sales.”

He said people had travelled from outside the area to support the show and said they were looking forward to next year’s exhibition, when it is hoped to return it to its usual autumn slot.

Neil said: “We would like to thank South West Art in Sidmouth for their support and running of the show.”

He is not sure if more artists will be introduced to the guild before next year’s exhibition, but added: “We would like to consider an open show for the future.

“The positive success we have had over the last two years is sufficient encouragement to drive us forward and develop more and incorporate new ideas.

“Kennaway House’s aesthetics play a big part in contributing to the success of the exhibition.”
