IF THE terrible summer weather has left you feeling downhearted, Sidmouth Amateur Dramatic Society's autumn production Chase Me Up Farndale Avenue, S'il Vous Plait!, a comedy 'tres saucy' by David McGillivray and Walter Zerlin Jnr is bound to get you laughing again.

Hold tight as the Farndale Avenue Housing Estate Townwomen's Guild Dramatic Society take a fun packed trip to 'gay Paree'.

Bossy chairman Mrs Phoebe Reece (Christine Hardy) is determined that the French flavoured farce will run smoothly and her temperamental leading lady Thelma (Avril Best) is giving it everything she's got too.

But budding thespian Felicity (Gillian Coley) is perhaps too keen and geeky stage manager Gordon (Gavin Haines) has been pressured into acting - it's always so difficult to get men on the stage!

A last minute change of cast means that Minnie Robinson from wardrobe (Cherine Hill) has to step in and read from a script. What could go wrong?

Everything possible, including rogue sound and lighting effects, collapsing scenery and an uncontrollable vacuum cleaner.

The results are side-splittingly funny and exquisitely excruciating.

Directed by Joan Heard, whose most recent successes are Humpty Dumpty, Fiddler on the Roof and Brassed Off, Chase Me Up Farndale Avenue, Si vous plait! will chase away the blues and provide an evening of laughter which is bound to lift your spirits and catch you right in the chuckle box.

Chase Me Up Farndale Avenue, S'il Vous Plait! October 14-18, 7.45pm, Saturday matinee 2.30pm. Tickets £8 and £4 available now from the Manor Pavilion Theatre box office (01395) 514413.
