Sidmouth Town Band and Rivertones barbershop singers to raise funds for Devon Freewheelers charityh

WITH previous successful concerts at Sidmouth’s Manor Pavilion Theatre, the Rivertones Barbershop Harmony Chorus will return next Saturday to share a stage with Sidmouth Town Band.

This combination of award-winning town band musicians and the superb Rivertones, promises to deliver another programme of popular, traditional and classical music to enjoy.

The concert starts at 7.30pm on Saturday, February 18, with doors open from 6.45pm. Tickets are �9 and now on sale from the theatre box office: 01395 514413, between 10am to 2pm, Monday to Saturday.

This special concert is sponsored by Sidmouth Lions Club and it is primarily to raise funds for the Devon Freewheelers charity, which provides volunteer based, out-of-hours deliveries of urgently needed blood, drugs, organs and medical supplies to NHS hospitals.

The Rivertones, from Taunton, was founded in 1983 and sings a mix of traditional and modern popular songs in an a’capella style in four-part harmony.

The 40-strong male chorus attracts members from as far as Bristol and South Devon and is always looking to recruit new members. For more details call John Belton: 01404 813431.

Currently the chorus is preparing for its forthcoming return visit to the annual barbershop convention where it has achieved a placing in the top two thirds of choruses in the country.
