Libra Court artists join Sidmouth’s Big Seaside Draw
TO coincide with Devon Open Studios fortnight, Sidmouth artist Derek Ratcliffe is holding a solo exhibition at Libra Court, off Fore Street.
Derek, pictured, normally shares the studio with Neil Hampson and Rebecca Greenwood. Rebecca opened it in February and lets out wall space to the two artists.
Derek, who originally comes from the Midlands, moved to Sidmouth 10 years ago and paints seascapes in acrylic, oils and mixed media.
He said: “I’ve been painting for about 30 years. I was an accountant but since I’ve retired I do more painting than I used to, its turning into a cottage industry.”
He is involved with Sunday’s Big Seaside Draw on the Esplanade from 11am to 4pm, which marks the launch of the Sidmouth Art Trail.
The purpose of the Big Seaside Draw is to raise awareness of Sidmouth’s thriving art scene. The art trail links five of the town’s galleries, including the one at Libra Court.
